BAD KLEINKIRCHHEIM, AUSTRIA SUMMER TIME

Bad Kleinkirchheim is located in Carinthia, southern Austria and is an old spa town. BKK ,as it is called by the locals, is next to the very well known Nock National Park and gained fame for the excellent skiing because it is the home of the legendary Franz Klammer downhill racer. Every January it is the host of the FIS Ski Worldcup Championships. BKK is a wellness and nature town, with a bounty of flora and fauna as well as wellness spas. During the summer months it becomes a fantastic holiday destination with Exercise Arenas, Alpine sports and the spectacular Nock National Park. Summer views from the gondolas are magnificent.

When the skiers have left for the year, the holiday season doesn't end in Bad Kleinkirchheim. If anything it is just getting started. In the summer months Bad Kleinkirchheim turns into a haven for people who want to relax and for people more interested in trying out new activities.

Nockberg National Park, based at the top of the Nock Alm, is the largest national park in the eastern alps. There is a huge range of Alpine flora and fauna to experience all with the beautifully relaxing fresh air and the exquisite views that you can see here on the right and below. If you are a horse lover you can hire a horse and go riding around the alm.

If you are looking just to sit back and relax, there are many options. Make te short drive to Ardriatic sea and sit on the beach, go to one of the quaint lakes, take a hike on the Nockalm or sit fishing by the side of a river. The region is also home to some rare species of birds and you can find many lookouts for bird spotting. The public swimming pools are open all through the summer as well as the health spas.

Bad Kleinkirchheim also offers one of Austria's most beauiful golf course. A full 18 hole golf course with a total of 6,006 metres surrounded by the Alps! It is a challenging course with the added effect of the mountainous area.

There are plenty of lakes in the area as well as only being a short drive away from the Adriatic sea and long sandy beaches. They all offer a hugh host of activities including sailing, water skiing, swimming, windsurfing, fishing, snorkeling, parachute surfing, waterslides and many more.

Other activities in this area to keep active include the very popular off road scooters, downhill mountain biking, biking tours, hiking and mountain climbing.

In Austria the "Roddelbahn" runs through out the summer. This is the the summer time version of the luge! It makes for great fun for all the family. With younger children you can sit two in a toboggan so you can drive and your children can still experience the thrill of going down the mountain on a summer toboggan.
